Muncie Community Schools on the Road to Success.
"Where parents are working with the schools to support student learning."
EFFECTIVE THE 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR AND THEREAFTER
On November 18, 2013 the Muncie Community School Board of Trustees voted to merge the two high schools, bringing Southside High School student body to join Central High School. The Southside building will be converted to Southside Middle School, with Wilson being the vacant building. Therefore, the four secondary schools will be Muncie Central High School (grades 9-12), Northside Middle School (grades 6-8), Southside Middle School (grades 6-8) and the Muncie Area Career Center (vocational education). The Wilson building will be designated as unavailable to be placed on the Indiana Department of Education list of closed, unused or occupied school buildings until 2016.
The nine elementary schools will remain the same: East Washington Academy, Grissom Elementary, Longfellow Elementary, Mitchell Elementary, North View Elementary, South View Elementary, Storer Elementary, Sutton Elementary and West View Elementary.

School Closings and Delays
Muncie Community Schools makes every effort to notify school families in the event of school closings or a two-hour delay to the start of the school day. If school is canceled or delayed, we will utilize Honeywell Instant Alert, our phone and email notification system, and our school website, www.muncie.k12.in.us, to notify families. In addition, information will be sent to our local radio stations and the Star Press. The Indianapolis television stations also will be notified.
