Teacher, Grades 4-5

Grant funded 20 hours a week position.  Salary:  $14.68 per hour

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

Promotes and provides supportive and supplemental educational programs to at-risk grade 4-5 school children with an emphasis on reading, math, study strategies and citizenship skills.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Plans, develops, writes and implements curriculum and individual educational plans in accordance with educational goals, students' abilities and Indiana Academic Standards.

Manages student behavior to encourage best possible student educational experience.

Monitors, prepares and submits appropriate documentation and reports on student progress.

Initiates, develops and maintains positive working relationships with school corporations, human services agencies and other community resources to promote and facilitate Library use by children and youth.

Provides excellent service to Library customers, students, parents and school system.

Actively promotes Library servicesbooks and programs.      

Creates and maintains an environment conducive to learning.

Maintains State of Indiana Teacher’s License.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor degree in  education and current Indiana teaching license required. IDOE “Highly Qualified Teacher” status preferred.  Experience working with at-risk children preferred. Basic computer skills including Windows, use of mouse and keyboarding required.  Knowledge of age appropriate computer applications for first through fifth grades desired.

 

 

Lead Teacher’s Aide

Grant funded 20 hours a week position.  Salary:  $11.54 per hour

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

Provides assistance to Teacher in grant administration responsibilities.  Referred to as “Lead Aide.”

Provides assistance to Teacher in preparing and implementing supportive and supplemental educational programs to at-risk elementary school children with an emphasis on reading, math, study strategies and citizenship skills.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Enters data into the EZ Reports data collection system.

Provides excellent service to Library customers, students, parents and school system.

Teaches pre-prepared lessons when Program Director is absent.

Actively promotes Library servicesbooks and programs.

Assists Teacher in preparing daily lessons.

Assists students individually and in small groups with their lessons.

Assists in maintaining an environment conducive to learning.

Manages student behavior to encourage best possible student educational experience.

Prepares displays, posters, signs, handouts, etc.

Compiles grades and maintains statistics.

May accompany students in traveling from school to Library.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 60 credit hours of college required.  Experience working with at-risk children preferred.  Excellent customer service, organization and communication skills required.  Basic computer skills including Windows, use of mouse and keyboarding required.  Knowledge of age appropriate computer applications for first through fifth grades desired

 

 

Teacher’s Aide (4 openings)

Grant funded 14 hours a week position.  Salary:  $11.17 per hour
