Attorney General, Greg Zoeller announced that Muncie Community Schools has been awarded a $50,000.00 grant from the Secured School Safety Board to hire two (2) elementary school resource officers as well as school security equipment. The grant proposal was written by Chuck Hensley, Chief of Security and Ana M. Pichardo, Director of Communications who is also a Certified School Safety Specialist. MCS has a strong interest in expanding the school resource officers program. Steve Hall, Del-Com Superintendent, also participated in the grant announcement. Del-Com also received a 50,000.00 grant.

Muncie Community Schools operates a Safety Tip Line which is available to anyone who wants to report information related to school safety in a confidential manner. The Safety Tip Line number is 747-1632. The number can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls are anonymous and confidential. Examples of information may include bullying, drugs and/or alcohol use or presence, weapons, violence and/or threats, theft and anything else that maybe a threat to students, staff and the school.
