What’s Happening at the MACC in January
and February 2016 ………....
MACC Senior WorkKeys Certification Testing
Great Job MACC Seniors! Ninety-three (93%) of all MACC seniors earned
some level of WorkKeys Certification. The WorkKeys Assessment is part of the
National Career Readiness Certification program. The Certificate is a portable, evidence-based
credential that measures essential workplace skills. The WorkKeys Examination can be used to meet
the requirements for a Technical Honors diploma provided the student earns the
following scores: Applied Math (Level
6), Reading (Level 6), and Locating Information (Level 5).
College Dual Credit Enrollments – MACC students are preparing for both
college and careers. There are 181 MACC
students enrolled in college dual credit courses through either Ivy Tech or
MACC Students Receive MLK Citizenship Awards –
January 16, 2016
The following MACC students received the MLK Citizenship Awards at a
ceremony held at Muncie Central High School on Saturday, January 15, 2016: Chance Daugherty – Auto, Chase Mahan –
Construction, Elizabeth Marvin – Dental Careers, Davieon Mixon – Electrical
Technology, Paytonn Ullman – IT Academy, and Brooke Young – Health
Science. Congratulations to MACC MLK

Automation and Robotics Classroom and Lab – The new program focused on industrial automation
and robotics is well underway at MACC as the classroom/lab areas are being
renovated and new equipment is being purchased for this state-of-the-art
lab. The enrollments are now open for
this program that begins August 1, 2016!

MCS School Board Visits MACC – February 8th
The Muncie Area Career Center welcomes the MCS
School Board for lunch on Monday, February 8th. The Board will learn about the many
opportunities and benefits provided by the Adult Education and Career &
Technical Education Programs operated through the MACC.
Parent Visitation Day – February 9th
Parents are invited to attend class with their son
or daughter at the Career Center on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. This is a great opportunity for MACC students
to share with their parents and grandparents the skills they are learning
through the career and technical education programs housed at the MACC.
Muncie Area Career Center Open House – February 11th
The Muncie Area Career Center will be holding their
CTE Open House on Thursday, February 11, 2016, beginning at 6:30 PM in the MACC
Gymnasium during CTE Week.
During CTE Week, students will be working on their
Program Area displays as part of a school-wide competition between the different
February 11th beginning at 6:30 PM in
the MACC gym, students, parents, school representatives, and community
stakeholders are invited to view the displays and vote for the display that
they think is the best!
There will also be opportunities for visiting MACC
classrooms and lab areas, talking with teachers, meet with representatives from
IvyTech and the WorkOne Center, and time to learn more about certification and
dual credit opportunities. There will
also be refreshments and door prizes for students!
Closings and Delays
Community Schools makes every effort to notify school families in the event of
school closings or a two-hour delay to the start of the school day. If school
is canceled or delayed, we will utilize Honeywell Instant Alert, our phone and
email notification system, and our school website,
www.muncie.k12.in.us, and our Facebook to notify families. In
addition, information will be sent to our local radio stations and the Star
Press. The Indianapolis television stations also will be notified
