Welcome to Mitchell Elementary


MCS has launched the Strategic Planning Survey.

We ask that all stakeholders complete the survey.  By taking the survey,  

you will assist us in the planning for the future of Muncie Community Schools.

Mustangs in Motion Fun Run/Walk Event

Join us for the Mustangs in Motion fun run/walk event on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 9:00 A.M.  This event is to help raise funds for field trips for all classes.  Forms were sent home with students this week.  EACH participant needs a form and a signed waiver of liability (on the back of the registration form) in order to participate.  Students are expected to be accompanied by an adult.  Members of the community are welcome to attend so encourage everyone you know to participate.  In order to have a shirt by the day of the event, registration forms must be received by Monday, October 19th.

The school year is off to a great start!  We are very excited about the direction we are headed this semester!   As the weather becomes colder, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  If you are in need of a coat, gloves or hat please contact the school office.  Attendance is crucial for student success.  Please notify the office if your child is unable to attend school.  If you are looking for a way to get involved in your child’s education, the PTO is always looking for volunteers.  We have many great activities in the coming months, so please join us and as we work to make the Mitchell community the best it can be!  As always, feel free to stop by the school office or contact us if you have any questions.

School Closings and Delays

Muncie Community Schools makes every effort to notify school families in the event of school closings or a two-hour delay to the start of the school day. If school is canceled or delayed, we will utilize Honeywell Instant Alert, our phone and email notification system, and our school website,, and our Facebook to notify families.  In addition, information will be sent to our local radio stations and the Star Press.  The Indianapolis television stations also will be notified.
