Welcome to Southside High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps page.

    Our program consists of approximately 180 students. The program has been in existence since 1973 when it was chartered at Muncie Southside by the U.S. Marine Corps.  For the past three years our program has been designated as a Naval Honor School.  Our weekly curriculum consists of current events, physical training, uniform inspection, leadership training, citizenship, drill instruction, weapons safety, and water life saving techniques.  Our curriculum also includes life-living skills such as money management, time management, health, responsibility and history and traditions of our sponsor the United States Marine Corps
    In addition to a JROTC Southside also has an armed drill team, an unarmed drill team and an honor guard all of which are also sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps. The drill teams at Southside have much the same curriculum as the JROTC but focus mainly on drilling and drill related activities. The drill teams compete throughout the Midwest in a series of competitions against other high schools.
