Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Free 3-week program for incoming Sutton Kindergarteners! Sutton Smart Start is FREE but limited.  Must complete all Kindergarten Registration Paperwork!  Please submit Sutton Smart Start registration with all other forms by Monday, July 21, 2014.

Sutton Back to School Registration Bash
Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
School registration, backpacks with school supplies, shoes, and lunch provided.  There will also be health screenings, shots, bounce houses and a rock wall.  So, come out and have some fun while getting registered for school.

Message from the Superintendent:  July 2014

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Muncie Community Schools:

While your students are home on summer break, we want to help you with your planning for the 2014-2015 School Year. As you may recall, due to extreme Property Tax losses within our school district, the Muncie Community Schools (MCS) is faced with a very severe shortage of funds to operate yellow school buses. MCS conducted a special referendum election in November 2013, to try and generate future transportation funding. That referendum was defeated. MCS petitioned the state for a waiver on the 3-year notice required to completely cease yellow bus service. That waiver was denied. The socio-economic demographics of our community make a very compelling case for the need for yellow school bus service. MCS has never questioned the need for this service, adequate funding remains the issue.

MCS recently redesigned and rebid our bus routes for 2014-2015 and thereafter. This was done to create some efficiencies in operations and lower the overall cost of operating school buses.  While the distance from school requirements did not change, new route structures will cause most former routes to be longer with more students on each bus.

Please reference the link to the map for your child's school to see if you are in the 14/15 walk zone or the bus zone. You may contact the school bus service provider, M & M Bus Co., at 765-282-1717 beginning August 1, 2014, for more specific bus stop information and route times.

Message from the Principal 

The 2013-2014 school year was successful for the students and staff of Sutton Elementary.  The students made great academic gains in both reading and mathematics thanks to our hard working staff and the support of our parents.  We are looking forward to continue academic progress for the 2014-2015 school year.  

This summer Glad Tidings will be serving lunch to any student from noon to 1:00 in the Sutton cafeteria.  This begins on June 16 and extends through August 8 (excluding July 4).  Adults are welcome to eat at a cost of $2.00. 

We are excited to participate in the Kick Off to Kindergarten program for the second year.  This program is for incoming Sutton kindergarten students.  It begins on July 21 and ends on August 8.  Students will jump start into kindergarten by being exposed to the teachers, classrooms, routines, and procedures of Sutton Elementary.  If you have an incoming kindergarten to Sutton, please contact the administration building to enroll your student in the program.  

Our Back to School registration event will be on Saturday, August 2.  Join us for food, fun, and registration from 9:00-1:00.  After you complete all of the necessary paperwork to register your child, Glad Tidings will provide each student with tennis shoes, a backpack, and school supplies.  We look forward to seeing you there!
