School Closings and Delays
Muncie Community Schools makes every effort to notify school families in the event of school closings or a two-hour delay to the start of the school day. If school is canceled or delayed, we will utilize Honeywell Instant Alert, our phone and email notification system, and our school website, www.muncie.k12.in.us, and our Facebook to notify families. In addition, information will be sent to our local radio stations and the Star Press. The Indianapolis television stations also will be notified.

We are pleased to announce that during the month of October we will be running the Original Works Program at West View. Each child will have the opportunity to have their very own artwork reproduced onto a variety of high quality products. The products range from magnets, mugs and mousepads to ceramic tiles, t-shirts, note cards, and nearly two dozen other products. Complete details on the program will be sent home shortly. Proceeds from the program will be used to purchase special art supplies. For more information on Original Works, please visit their website at www.originalworks.com. You may also contact West View's art teacher, Ms. Swickard.

We are off to another fantastic year at West View! Our teachers and staff have worked tirelessly to prepare their rooms and the building and boy does it show. I was extremely pleased so many of you came to Open House and were able to see how wonderful the building looked. Thank you so much for being supportive of our school.
As always, our student’s safety is one of our main concerns. Thank you for being patient with drop off and pick up of students. We have had very few issues and that is a result of your efforts. I have had a report from a neighbor of a vehicle turning around in their driveway and they have black marks on their cement as a result. Please be kind to our neighbors and stakeholders and drive around the block to avoid using a driveway as a turn around.
This month is full of events ranging from academics to athletics. Please look closely at the school’s marquee, the classroom teacher’s weekly newsletters and the calendar to keep on top of everything that is going on.
