School Closings and Delays
Muncie Community Schools makes every effort to notify school families in the event of school closings or a two-hour delay to the start of the school day. If school is canceled or delayed, we will utilize Honeywell Instant Alert, our phone and email notification system, and our school website, www.muncie.k12.in.us, and our Facebook to notify families. In addition, information will be sent to our local radio stations and the Star Press. The Indianapolis television stations also will be notified.
It is hard to believe that we are now in the month of December and our semester ends very soon! Hopefully you are pleased with the progress your student is making, but if you have concerns there are several things you can do.
1) Check your student's back pack nightly for information from the school or teacher including notes and homework.
2) Contact the school for a log-in to follow your student's academic progress via MCS' Information Now computer grading system.
3) Ask your student what they are learning and don't accent the answer "nothing." Many wonderful educational opportunities are taking place everyday so ask more detailed questions such as what are the math problems your class is working on or what can you tell me about the main character in your story today?
4) Contact your student's teacher to establish a time to meet and discuss how you can help your student be academically successful.
