Safety & Security

Safety and Security preparedness is a top priority in MCS. School safety is the responsibility of everyone – students, staff, parents and visitors. Each school in the district has at least one School Resource Officer assigned to it in order to enhance a sense of safety, order and manageability in the buildings.

ROLE OF SRO'S IN MCS

We  are constantly reviewing our processes for effectiveness and efficiencies, which includes identifying those areas that need improvement. This proactive process helps us ensure that our students can maximize their learning potential within a safe and secure environment.

Muncie Community Schools operates a Safety Tip Line which is available to anyone who wants to report information related to school safety in a confidential manner.  The number can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Calls are anonymous and confidential.

School Closings and Delays

Muncie Community Schools makes every effort to notify school families in the event of school closings or delays. If school is canceled or delayed, we will utilize our school messaging system to message families through phone, email and SMS texts. Please review and update your students' information in PowerSchool to ensure messages will be received. In addition, we will also post alerts to our website and social media accounts and provide updates to local media outlets.
