Safety & Security

Safety and Security preparedness is always a focus at MCS. School safety is the responsibility of everyone – students, staff, parents and visitors.  MCS contracts with Legacy Life Security to provide School Safety Officers (SSOs) to cover all MCS facilities. Legacy Life Security is led by Robert Scaife, a longtime Muncie resident and former Muncie Police Department detective.

Each SSO undergoes regular trainings in the areas of CORE strength, youth mental health first aid, cultural competency, active shooter, Stop the bleed (first aid and CPR), firearms training & qualifications, and other specialties.

Together with Legacy Life Security, we are constantly reviewing processes for effectiveness, which includes identifying areas that need improvement. This proactive process helps us ensure that our students can maximize their learning potential within a safe and secure environment.
