Enrollment Instructions for New Families
Who is considered a new family?
You are a new family if your student has never been pre-registered or attended any school in Muncie Community Schools, even a school that has since been closed. If this is your first time enrolling, follow the steps below.
If you already submitted a preregistration, contact the school, directly, to check on the status. All preregistrations are pending until they are reviewed at the school level.
Steps for New Enrollment
Important: Do not pre-register if…

You have already submitted a pre-registration application for any school. Contact the school to check the status of your preregistration.

Your student is returning to MCS. This includes students who have not attended for several years, or those who were tested for special services, but did not attend an MCS school.

Instead, contact the school to reactivate your previous enrollment, or inquire about a previously submitted registration.
Submit Only One Application

Do not submit more than one pre-registration for the same student or to multiple schools. Contact the school to check the status of the preregistration or to make any changes.
Choosing the Right School

Use the school boundary map to determine your home (neighborhood) school based on your address.

If you're interested in attending a different school, you must:

Register for your home school first, then

Submit a transfer application (do not submit a separate pre-registration for another school).

Click the link below to begin the pre-registration process. DO NOT PROCEED if you have previously submitted a form for the same student, regardless of the school chosen. Contact the school to check the status.

What Happens Next?

The approval process may take several days, or longer during the summer.

Once approved, you’ll receive instructions to create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account. via the email you provided.

Use your parent portal account to complete the remaining enrollment forms. You will continue to receive enrollment messages until all forms are completed.
