Director of Public Education/CEO
Dr. Charles “Chuck” Reynolds has been in education for nearly 30 years and currently serves as Muncie Community Schools’ Director of Public Education and CEO after serving five years as the district’s associate superintendent. He has spent most of his career with MCS, including six years as band director at Muncie Southside High School where he led the Spirit of South to five Indiana State Fair Band Day championships and two runner-up finishes.
His other MCS administrative positions have included:
- Assistant Principal – Wilson Middle School
- Associate Principal – Muncie Southside
- Principal – Wilson Middle School
- Associate Principal – Muncie Central
In addition, he spent four years as a district administrator with Richmond Community Schools where he led its continuous improvement efforts in the areas of curriculum alignment, personnel evaluations, professional development and team building. Dr. Reynolds is also well known for his work in the community. He’s a three-time winner of the Muncie Citizenship Award given out by the Muncie City Council. In 2020, he was named Outstanding Administrator by the Indiana Music Educators Association.
He’s also been named a “Muncie Difference Maker” by the Muncie Star Press and was given a Key to the City award by Muncie Mayor Dan Canan. He currently sits on the board or a leadership committee of the following organizations:
- Delaware County School Safety Coalition
- Minnetrista Museum and Gardens
- Delaware, Blackford & Jay County Child Fatality Review Team
- Glad Tidings Church
- Muncie Action Plan
- Healthy Community Alliance
- Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative
Dr. Reynolds completed his Bachelors in Instrumental and General Music Education, Master of Arts, Educational Specialists and Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership from Ball State University after graduating from Muncie Southside. During his free time, he enjoys performing in the church praise band and serving the community.
Chuck has been married to his high school sweetheart, Rhonda, for 26 years. They have two children, Gabe and Reggie. Gabe graduated from Muncie Central in 2024 and attends Indiana University East where he runs cross country and track. Reggie is a senior at Muncie Central and is active in cross country, track, basketball, band and student council.
